Cunard's Queen Mary 2
Which direction you book really depends on whether you're aboard for the experience or you're using the crossing as a substitute for a flight to reach the other side of the ocean. On a northerly crossing, you can expect to embark in a port such as Copenhagen; Rotterdam, Netherlands; Southampton or New York. Where you embark and disembark will determine your route and the ports you potentially call on. Ships repositioning to or from the Baltic Sea and the British Isles generally take a northerly route. Vessels sailing from the Mediterranean cross on a more southerly route, especially if they are repositioning to or from a winter home port in Florida.
On westbound cruises, you'll have to set your clock back at night, thus gaining an extra hour of sleep on most days. On eastbound cruises, you'll set it ahead an hour and lose an hour of leisure time or sleep. More important for an Atlantic crossing location-wise is your cabin's deck number and whether the cabin is situated forward, midship or aft. Generally, the ship's movement through rough seas will feel less severe if your cabin is midship and on one of the lower or middle decks versus the top-most decks. As noted above, the best prices are generally in spring and fall for repositioning cruises.
On top of that, each sailing includes a mix of culturally rich ports. In addition to the diverse dining options available, transatlantic cruises also cater to passengers with specific dietary requirements. Whether it’s vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, or any other dietary restriction, cruise lines strive to accommodate the needs of all guests. Passengers are encouraged to inform the cruise line of their dietary requirements in advance, ensuring that their dining experience is tailored to their needs.
Visit the planetarium, join a yoga class, dance the night away, or simply bury yourself in a good book. It's your time, and you'll always be free to spend it however you please. With so many days at sea, try something new onboard, but also bring your own entertainment — whether that's an e-reader or a good book.

Today the Center’s 12-acre complex includes Radio City Music Hall and NBC studios where Saturday Night Live and The Tonight Show are filmed. It’s also home to The Rink ice-skating and giant Christmas tree whose lighting ceremony has become a huge annual highlight.

Disney Cruises in 2025: Sail Dates, Itineraries, and Ports
According to Disney Cruise Line’s frequently asked questions, women must be no more than 23 weeks pregnant in order to set sail. If they enter the 24th week of pregnancy during the sailing, they will likewise be refused embarkation. A female guest was successfully airlifted from Disney Fantasy on the morning of Monday, April 15, when the cruise ship was enjoying a day at sea after having departed Port Canaveral on Saturday, April 13. As mentioned above, the expected launch of three new Disney Cruise ships in rapid succession somewhat complicates the release schedule for 2025. In addition to the Disney Treasure, both the Disney Adventure and Disney Destiny are expected at some point in 2025. At least some sail dates for those ships will likely be announced separately from the regular cadence of itinerary releases.

You will also work with the same travel planner from start to finish, so you won’t have to speak to different people every time you call. It takes all the hassle and stresses out of planning and booking a Disney cruise vacation yourself. Disney Cruise travelers may want to arrive in New Orleans a day or two before their cruise.
The Disney Cruise Line fleet currently includes four total ships, with plans to add three more by 2023. My own family had the chance to enjoy five nights aboard the Disney Wonder, the same ship that will sail from New Orleans next year. While the Disney Wonder is one of the “older” ships in the Disney fleet (her maiden voyage took place in August 1999), the ship does not feel the least bit old or run down. I do not have any personal experience on Disney’s newer ships, but we found the Disney Wonder to be a beautiful “home on the sea” for family vacation. There are four restaurants that offer seated meals (primarily for dinner) and another four dining options that present more casual counter service / buffet style meals. Additionally, our kids got a kick out of the fact that room service is offered 24/7.
Your best options are Avis, Enterprise, Hertz, or Budget, as these companies have drop-off locations right near Port NOLA. There’s also a spa, fitness club, bars, lounges, and other adult-only areas. Most Disney Magic cruises from New Orleans include stops in the exotic and enchanting Port of Cozumel and dock at Punta Langosta Pier.
Your extra expenses will include airfare, specialty restaurants, gratuities, spa treatments, shore excursions, bottled beverages, and alcohol. The Disney Magic takes you to some of the region’s most spectacular beaches and fascinating cultural sights while traversing the majestic Western Caribbean seas. Below are some details on the ports Disney cruises stop at on their New Orleans departures.
Whether you drive yourself, or use a ride sharing service or family/friends to drop you off, the procedure is the same. You will first unload your checked bags (with your DCL tags applied!), and a porter will take them from you to be loaded onto the ship. You will not see this luggage for many hours, so ensure you have your Port Arrival Form, Passports/Birth Certificates, medications and any other necessities with you in your carry-on bags. If you drove yourself, a member of your party will need to park and meet back up with the rest of your party, or you can all go together if you wish. When the parking deck fills to capacity, you will be directed to the overflow lot, which for us, was the Employee Parking adjacent to the Port Arrival area. Inside the Disney Wonder, we were also able to keep ourselves thoroughly entertained.
If you love your Carnival experience, an easy way to save on your next cruise is with the Future Cruise Vacation Program. There is no extra charge for the burgers available at Guy's Burger Joint on the Lido Deck. Carnival's IMAX and thrill Theater movies are a cool thing, but there is a substantial fee for the experience. Plan a night at a free Dive-In Movie shown outdoors on a big screen instead. Another way to save on bottles of wine is by purchasing bottles of wine with Carnival directly before you board.

Embarking on a last-minute cruise with Carnival can be an exhilarating experience. To truly capitalize on these spur-of-the-moment adventures, it’s crucial to make the most of every minute onboard. This means having a well-curated checklist of essentials tailored for quick departures.

Since there’s no time to fret over forgotten items, a comprehensive list ensures you won’t leave behind critical things like passports, medication, or suitable attire for the destination’s weather. Even though the ticket price might seem low, I need to account for taxes, port fees, gratuities, and on-board expenses. Special promotions might include on-board credits or complimentary items that can add value to my trip; I should weigh these perks against the base cost of the cruise.
Carnival Cruise Line Cruise Deals
Read your Carnival cruise details and fine print before packing to make sure you are not bringing more than the allowable limit. You may be extremely lucky and find photo specials once you board your Carnival cruise, but the safest bet if you want to save is to book your package pre-cruise. You can also preorder a water package after you book your Carnival cruise. These are a bargain compared to what they charge per bottle on your ship. Check out value-priced sailings on some of the line's older ships, which are still lively, fun and offer such attractions as WaterWorks water parks -- and often at bargain prices. Before you even start your online search for a cruise deal or call a travel agent, take a look at Carnival's latest deals including super low last-minute offers.

Rather than choosing a specific cabin, you are choosing a low cruise rate without knowing exactly what level of cabin you will get. Enjoy all the fun a Carnival cruise has to offer at the lowest rates. Availability of staterooms is often limited, and I may need to be flexible with my accommodations.
Tips for Making the Most of a Last Minute Cruise Experience
Consider the total value of the package, including on-board credits and complimentary amenities. Also, evaluate the type of cabin offered and understand the cancellation policy before booking. To immerse fully in the onboard experience, researching the ship and its amenities in advance is a game-changer. Familiarizing yourself with the layout, scheduled activities, and dining options helps you hit the ground running from the moment you step aboard.
How to Easily Score Carnival Cruise Deals and Save Money
Pack smart, research the ship and amenities beforehand, be open to new experiences, socialize with fellow guests, and take advantage of port excursions to make the most of your last-minute cruise. Sometimes, Carnival may adjust itineraries based on a variety of factors, including weather or port availability. While this can be an exciting opportunity to explore unexpected destinations, I need to be open to these adjustments. While an interior stateroom may be tempting for its lower cost, an oceanview or balcony room might have just had a price reduction, offering more bang for your buck. Here, the spontaneity of last-minute booking might just land you a cabin that would’ve been out of reach if planned far ahead. Tracking down the best last-minute cruise deals with Carnival isn’t as tricky as one might think.
Pre-boarding photo package promotions on Carnival cruises can save you between 20 and 50 percent of the onboard price. In addition to alcohol, the Cheers plan includes specialty coffee, bottled water, soda and non-alcoholic frozen cocktails. Post-boarding Carnival Cruise promotions for booze are rare. Onboard perks, such as a big free bottle of water, start with your second sailing. As you move up the five tiers, earning points for each cruise, the perks increase, eventually leading to such niceties as cabin upgrades and free meals at specialty restaurants.
For any cruises listed, Cruise Critic does not guarantee any specific rates or prices. Being open to new experiences is pivotal on a last minute cruise. Cruise ships are hubs of endless activity and entertainment. From onboard shows to recreational activities, there’s always something happening. I always make a point of trying at least one activity I’ve never done before, which not only adds excitement but also creates memorable stories to share. Booking a last-minute cruise with Carnival can be an exhilarating experience.
You'll also pay 10 percent more for this package if you book onboard. You can save by spending your vacation in unplugged nirvana or looking for cafes with free Wi-Fi on land, but Carnival Cruise Line also offers a pretty good deal on their onboard Wi-Fi. Loyalty programs are a great way to get freebies on cruise ships. Before your first cruise with Carnival, you can join the Very Important Fun Person (VIFP) Club. It gives you access to special cruise offers, including discounts during an end-of-summer Carnival cruise sale. Carnival Cruise Line is proof that cruising can be both affordable and enjoyable.
I make sure to sign up for newsletters and deal alerts from Carnival as well as reputable travel deal websites. This ensures I’m among the first to know about exclusive offers and flash sales. Being spontaneous doesn’t have to mean being reckless or impulsive. In the case of booking a last-minute Carnival cruise, it opens the door to smarter travels and unexpectedly delightful experiences—and that’s something worth diving into with wide-eyed enthusiasm. The dynamism of last-minute cruising keeps me on my toes, eagerly awaiting the next adventure that’s just around the corner.
Keep in mind that if you do go that route, you will have to buy it for all remaining days of the cruise. Carnival Cruise Line has 14 homeports in the U.S., including 10 year-round ones, which is the most of any cruise line. Flexibility works both ways, and understanding the terms can save a lot of hassle if plans change unexpectedly. You'll be helping out the local economy and saving some cash. For example, in the Caribbean, look for vendors offering T-shirts for a song. Also skip the fee-based snacks at the coffee shops; there are free treats at the Carnival buffet.
The way to save on photos is to take your own onboard, but if you know you won't be able to resist the posed shots by Carnival's photographers, consider purchasing a photo package. While bottled water is not allowed, you can save by bringing your own refillable water bottle and get water from the fountains on the Lido Deck. If you are on a longer cruise and will drink more than that, you'll save by ordering a Bottomless Bubbles soda package.
Before you book your Carnival cruise, it's worth comparing prices with third-party companies such as Viator. You can save by picking a port near you and driving to catch your ship -- whether you are embarking from a port in Florida, Long Beach, Galveston, New Orleans, New York, Mobile or elsewhere. No need to deal with expensive flights or crowded airports. So, if you’re itching for an impromptu escape or simply love the thrill of a great deal, keep reading. I’m about to reveal how to make the most of those last-minute urges to dive into the deep blue with Carnival Cruise Line.

Vehicle Type: Rates vary based on vehicle size and type.
Parking Duration: Costs increase with longer parking durations.
Advance Reservations: Save money by booking parking in advance.

Covered vs. Uncovered
When parking at the Charleston Cruise Port, you have the option to choose between covered and uncovered parking. Each option offers its own advantages and considerations:
Covered Parking:
Protection from the Elements: Covered parking provides protection from sun, rain, and other elements, ensuring your vehicle remains cool and dry.
Reduced Risk of Damage: Covered parking reduces the risk of damage to your vehicle from hail, falling objects, or bird droppings.
Higher Cost: Covered parking typically costs more than uncovered parking due to the added protection it offers.
Uncovered Parking:
Lower Cost: Uncovered parking is generally more affordable than covered parking, making it a budget-friendly option.
Direct Sunlight Exposure: Uncovered parking exposes your vehicle to direct sunlight, which can lead to a hotter interior and potential damage to the paint or upholstery.
Vulnerability to Weather: Uncovered parking offers no protection from rain, snow, or other weather conditions, which can affect your vehicle's exterior and interior.
Ultimately, the best parking option for you depends on your individual needs and preferences. If you value protection from the elements and are willing to pay a higher price, covered parking is a good choice. If you're on a budget and don't mind some exposure to the elements, uncovered parking is a more cost-effective option.
Garage vs Surface Select From Parking Garages or Surface Parking Lots
At the Charleston Cruise Port, you have the option to choose between parking in a parking garage or a surface parking lot. Each type of parking has its own advantages and disadvantages: **Parking Garages** * **Protection from the Elements:** Parking garages provide protection from sun, rain, and other elements, ensuring your vehicle stays cool and dry. * **Security:** Parking garages are typically more secure than surface parking lots, as they are often enclosed and have controlled access. * **Convenience:** Parking garages are often conveniently located near the cruise terminals, making it easy to get to your ship. * **Higher Cost:** Parking garages typically cost more than surface parking lots due to the added security and protection they offer. **Surface Parking Lots** * **Lower Cost:** Surface parking lots are generally more affordable than parking garages. * **Direct Access to Sunlight:** Surface parking lots offer direct access to sunlight, which can be beneficial for solar-powered vehicles or for airing out your vehicle. * **Vulnerability to Weather:** Surface parking lots offer no protection from rain, snow, or other weather conditions, which can affect your vehicle's exterior and interior. * **Less Convenient:** Surface parking lots are often located farther away from the cruise terminals than parking garages, requiring more walking or transportation. Ultimately, the best parking option for you depends on your individual needs and preferences. If you value protection from the elements, security, and convenience, a parking garage is a good choice. If you're on a budget or prefer direct access to sunlight, a surface parking lot may be a more suitable option.
